Chechen human rights activist pursued
Chairman of the Regional Public Organization "Union of Forced Migrants" Baudi Dudayev, who is well-known in the Republic of Ingushetia and in the Chechen Republic, is forced to hide from the possible pursuit by Russian special services, the human rights activist's close relatives reported. Dudayev learnt from a confidential source that a provocation was being prepared against him, with his arrest and a trumped-up case being in sight. The reason for such undesirable attention to Dudayev from the direction of FSB (Federal Security Service) officers lies in the speech he made at the conference in Pyatigorsk in October 2003. Then Baudi Dudayev leveled sharp criticism at Russian President Vladimir Putin in the presence of foreign guests, calling criminal the Russian leadership's policy towards the Chechen people.
