60th anniversary of Turks-Meskhetians' deportation by Stalin commemorated in Krasnodar Territory
On November 15, it was 60 years since Stalin deported Turks-Meskhetians from Georgia. As it was reported at the Novorossiysk Committee for Human Rights, that day the Turkish-Meskhetian community of Kuban held meetings everywhere, where a minute's silence was observed in honor of all those killed and lost without guilt.
The deportation was committed when 40 thousand Turks-Meskhetians were at war in the ranks of the Soviet Army - 8 of them were conferred the Hero of the Soviet Union and 26 thousand were killed. This people has not been rehabilitated yet and lives under difficult conditions in Krasnodar Territory. Co-Chairs of the Society for Kuban-Turkish-Meskhetian Friendship Tamara Karastilyova and Sarvar Tedorov announced that an exhibition of documents and photos is to open in Moscow in mid December and hearings on the discrimination of the Turks-Meskhetians in Krasnodar Territory are also to be held at that time.
