Karachai-Circassia wins Caucasian Games

The national team of Karachai-Circassia has been recognized to be the winner of the first sports festival of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) - the Caucasian Games.

The Festival of Caucasian Games was held today in district centre Khabez in Karachai-Circassia; its programme included 14 national sports. Over 200 athletes from all the NCFD subjects came to take part in the Games.

As reported by Chief Referee of the Festival Buvaisar Saitiev, a famous freestyle wrestler, Olympic, World, Europe and Russia Champion, on Sunday, October 10, all the prize-winners of the Caucasian Games will go to Sochi, where the Festival will be presented within the preparation for the Olympics-2014, the "Interfax" reports.

The next Festival will be held in 2011 also in Karachai-Circassia.

    Law enforcers have conducted a search of the home of Tatiana Polivanova, an activist, and her family members in Taganrog in connection with a fraud case with land plots of the Sochi National Park. The Polivanova's organization provided legal assistance to dozens of gardeners whose plots were seized by the court within this case.
