Members of youth organizations in Azerbaijan intend to demand that Bashirli be transferred from pre-trial prison to hospital
"Next week members of the youth organization "Eni Fikir" (New Thinking) are going to launch an unlimited action of protest in front of the Azeri General Prosecutor's Office," tells Said Nuri, deputy chair of the organization, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to what he says, this action by members of the organization has been necessitated by a critical state of health of Ruslan Bashirli, leader of "Eni Fikir", who is currently held at the detention facility of the Bailov prison.
The main demand of the organization members will be transfer of R. Bashirli to hospital. According to the deputy chair of the "Eni Fikir" youth organization, even if the city authorities fail to permit this action of protest, R. Bashirli's supporters are in a decisive mood and will not cancel their intention.
Additionally, in connection with R. Bashirli's state of health, representatives of "Eni Fikir" plan to apply to foreign embassies.
Meanwhile, Dzhalil Bashirov, Bashirli's father, has stated at today's press-conference that the heart aches and brain injuries make him incapable of freely moving.
Despite the requests of Ruslan's lawyers, he has not been transferred to the medical department. According to D. Bashirov, investigating officers want Ruslan to sign a statement incriminating the activity of Ali Kerimli, chairman of the Popular Front party of Azerbaijan, and "Eni Fikir" activists, but Ruslan flatly refuses to sign it.
For reference, the "Eni Fikir" youth association leader was arrested in Azerbaijan on August 2 last year and accused of collaboration with secret services of Armenia.
