Another case of non-statutory relations in the army: a warrant officer in Krasnodar beat a sergeant and broke his spleen
A criminal case was initiated in Krasnodar for abuse of powers by a warrant officer of a military unit. This has been reported by Natif Gadjimetov, assistant of military prosecutor of the North Caucasus Military District. Warrant officer Stanislav Shkriabunov beat junior sergeant, resulting in the regular term serviceman having his spleen amputated.
At the moment, the prosecution conducts a check at the unit for identification of other possible victims of the warrant officer, said Gadjimetov. He refused to comment on the circumstances of the event due to the secrecy of investigation.
However, it has become known from the sources in law enforcement agencies that the private ostensibly failed to fulfil the warrant officer's instructions.
"The accused forced the sergeant to beat private soldiers, the sergeant did not abide and was beaten," claimed the source, as reported by Interfax.
For reference, new facts of offences based on abuse of powers are being revealed in the Russian army. The campaign started with the case of Andrei Sychov who lost his legs and genitals in the army.
On the night of February 8, military surgeons at Burdenko hospital conducted a successful urological operation on Andrei Sychov to liquidate hydronephrosis of his left kidney. Sychov successfully went through the operation although his state of health remains critical.
In the course of Thursday, February 9, the mass media learnt about 6 cases of "dedovshchina" (hazing). This does not mean it is the total number of them because the military want to hide such shocking facts until the last moment. According to official 2005 statistics, 20,390 crimes connected with non-statutory relations were registered. It means that 56 crimes were registered each day. Unfortunately, such crimes often become known too late, states NEWSru.com.
