Radical opposition in Georgia announced beginning of riot
Leader of the radical opposition Mikhail Saakashvili declared the beginning of civil disobedience on a country scale, while speaking at a meeting in the center of Tbilisi on Monday. In spite of reinforced police cordons at the avenues of approach to Tbilisi, opposition supporters from Rustavi and the Kakhetinsky district in the east of Georgia managed to enter the city and join the meeting.
Mikhail Saakashvili named the flat refusal of Eduard Shevardnadze to meet the radicals' demands as a reason for the civil disobedience. It is worth reminding that the opposition leaders met the Georgian President last night and demanded either to recount results of the November 2 parliamentary elections in favor of them or declare the elections invalid. The opposition also presses for Shevardnadze's dismissal.
