Hafiz school to open in Grozny

Chechen authorities plan to open a school of hafizes - readers of the Koran, who know the sacred book of Moslems by heart - in Grozny.

"As decided by the leaders of our republic who pay special attention to spiritual and moral upbringing of our youth and development of traditional Islam, a hafiz school will be built in central Grozny. It will be a great event not only for our people but for the Islamic world as a whole, since there are not so many people in the world who know the sacred Koran by heart," a source in the Chechen Muftiyat told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the school will be able to teach a hundred persons at a time. All the proper conditions will be provided, and religious figures having respective knowledge will be the teachers.

It will be the second school of this sort - last year, a hafiz school was started in construction in Ramzan Kadyrov's family village - Tsentaroy (Khosi-Yurt), Kurchaloy District.
