Imam of Buglen mosque assassinated in Dagestan
Imam Nazim Magomedov, 38, was knifed dead today in the morning in Buglen village, Buinaksk District of Dagestan, when he went out of the mosque.
A resident of the village told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the Imam stopped for conversation with local resident Kamil Valiev; suddenly Valiev pulled out a knife and struck Magomedov several times in the stomach and breast. His wounds were incompatible with life, and the Imam died in situ.
Right after the incident Valiev came into the building of local ROVD (District Interior Division) and declared that he had killed a person. He was detained, and a criminal case was opened. The source also reported that Valiev was registered as a mental patient.
Magomedov is a graduate of the Egyptian University "Al-Azkhar", famous in the Islamic world. He was married and has three minor children.
