During dismantling the "Glory Memorial" in Kutaisi, Nino Dzhincharadze, a girl of 8, and her mother were killed by explosion.
The dismantling work was launched on December 12. It is planned to build a new building of the parliament of Georgia in that place. The tragedy happened during the explosion, which was used to demolish the reinforced concrete structure. The ITAR-TASS reports that one of local private companies was in charge of the dismantling works.
During the explosion, Nino Dzhincharadze and her mother tried to hide behind a garage, when the girl was hit by a concrete splinter. It is also reported that some people were wounded and hospitalized to the Centre of Intervention Medicine. Their condition is estimated as grave, as the "Georgia-Online" writes.
According to local residents, they were notified that the explosion could take place either today or on December 21, when President was going to come to Kutaisi. Because of this uncertainty, not all the residents left their apartments.
Because of the tragic incident, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili interrupted his visit to Denmark and returned to Tbilisi, as the "Interfax" Agency reports.
