Most of Russians believe situation in Chechnya will not change after elections of Chechen president
Most of Russians (59%) believe a situation in Chechnya will not change after the presidential elections in the republic. These results were received by ROMIR Monitoring Company during its all-Russian research conducted at the end of September 2003. 21% of the respondents think the situation will change for the better, and 13% are sure it will do for the worse.
Besides, the research results show 51% of the questioned people of Russia do not approve of the Russian authorities' policy towards the Chechen Republic. At the same time, 43% of Russians have a positive attitude about actions of the federal authorities towards Chechnya.
1,500 people were questioned during the research.
