Krasnodar Territory: two militiamen convicted for beating a detainee

The former head of the criminal investigation division of the district OVD (Interior Unit) and his subordinate have been sentenced to three years of imprisonment. According to the investigation, in December 2008 the convicts severely beat a man.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on October 15, 2008, in Sochi, a verdict was passed to eight OMON fighters, who in July 2006 beat several dozens of local residents and tourists in the children's summer camp "Druzhba" (Friendship).

According to the today's information of the prosecutor's office, on December 25, 2008, a resident of the Staromin District "behaved inadequately in a cafe" by molesting other visitors.

Then, the head of the criminal investigation division of the Staromin District OVD Tsesarskiy and an operative agent of this division Gerasimenko illegally brought the person detained in the cafe to the OVD building, where they kept him without any grounds, beating him "with hands and feet." The statement of the prosecutor's office says that "the medium gravity harm" was caused to the victim's health, as reported by the "Zhivaya Kuban" edition.

Militiamen Tsesarskiy and Gerasimenko were convicted under the article of "abuse of office with application of violence." Both were dismissed from the OVD and deprived of the right to take any posts in interior bodies for the period of three years, as reported by the "Gazeta.Ru".
