"Rospotrebnadzor" to suspend "Electrozink" in Vladikavkaz

The territorial department of "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Service for Consumer Supervision) in North Ossetia has prepared documents for the court on suspension of the "Electrozink" factory for up to 90 days. This was announced on November 11 during the press conference in Vladikavkaz by Taimuraz Butaev, the head of the department.

He has noted that his agency acts under the Code on Administrative Offences (know as "KoAP") of Russia; and the activity of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Electrozink", which admitted a number of hazardous emissions into the atmosphere, is covered by Article 8.2 "Breach of ecological and sanitary-and-epidemiologic requirements at handling production and consumption wastes or other hazardous substances".

"Our service has the right to impose fines from 100 to 250 thousand roubles; and "Electrozink" was already fined by 200 thousand roubles as a legal entity; besides, several fines in total of 50 thousand roubles were imposed on its officials," said Mr Butaev. "They were found guilty, and practically all of them were sacked."
