President of Chechnya claims 10 million roubles from the head of "Memorial"

The Tver Court of Moscow has initiated a civil proceeding under the claim of President Ramzan Kadyrov against Oleg Orlov, head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on defence of honour, dignity and business reputation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 20 Moscow GUVD (City Interior Administration) accepted the application of advocate of President of Chechnya Andrei Krasnenkov on opening a criminal case against Oleg Orlov, chair of the HRC "Memorial".

The "Interfax" writes with reference to the advocate that in his claim President of Chechnya asks the court to oblige the respondents to place a refutation in their official website. Also Ramzan Kadyrov asks to collect 10 million roubles from Oleg Orlov as compensation of moral damage, the "Gazeta.Ru" adds.

Anna Usachova, head of the press service of the Moscow City Court, said on Thursday that the trial on Kadyrov's claim to Orlov will start at the Tver Court of Moscow on August 31.

According to her story, in the end of August a pre-trial preparation will be held on the civil case which, according to the law, will take place in the closed regime.
