Supreme Court of Ingushetia acquits alleged organizers of disorders

Today the Supreme Court of Ingushetia has acquitted the figurants in the case of mass disorders last January.

The charges of organizing mass disorders, which resulted in burning down the building of the "Serdalo" newspaper and serious damage to the hotel "Assa", were presented to Maksharip Aushev, Ruslan Khazbiev and Musa Aushev. The case lasted for about a year; however, the Prosecutor's Office failed to prove Maksharip Aushev's and Ruslan Khazbiev's guilt.

Under the version of the investigation, Maksharip Aushev, together with the owner of the website "Ingushetia.Ru" Magomed Evloev, who perished on August 31, 2008, first called the population to come to a non-sanctioned rally, and then allegedly started an action with a demand of dismissal of the then President Murat Zyazikov.

The investigation asserted that they had organized disorders, accompanied by violence, pogroms and arsons. They rendered armed resistance to the authorities. However, the court has supported the defence and completely acquitted two oppositionists. Only Musa Aushev was found guilty and sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment, the "Ingushetia.Org" writes.

According to the acquitted Maksharip Aushev, similar cases against 10 more persons are now considered in Ingushetia, as reported by the "Echo Moskvy" Radio.
