Khazbiev: functionaries of Ingushetia support militants

Most functionaries and businessmen of the Republic of Ingushetia "pay kickback" to militants, claims Magomed Khazbiev, leader of Ingushetia opposition. According to him, civil servants continue to pay militants in the same way they were doing it under Murat Ziazikov, the previous president.

According to Khazbiev, under Ziazikov even small children knew, who was supporting militants. "Now, almost all functionaries and businessmen, judges and prosecutors pay militants. And, if they fail to pay, they are visited at night and their houses fall under fire", says Khazbiev.

According to him, the militants enjoy huge support from young people of Ingushetia among whom there are a lot of refugees from  Prigorodny district of North Ossetia. "These are children who have not seen any justice for 17 years. These insulted and humiliated children who do not see any solution of their problem are feeding the militants", claims Khazbiev.

Liudmila Alekseeva, head of the Moscow Helsinki Group, states a different reason why young people "go to the forests". "Having finished school young people do not know what they can do. If they stay at home they are afraid of becoming forced militants as was the case of Batyr Albakov, for instance. The hotheads really think "why shouldn't I go to the forest before they enlist me as a militant". And they go", acknowledges Alekseeva.
