MIA: 12 militants liquidated in Chechnya in two days

On July 11-12, in several districts of the republic and in the capital Grozny, fighters of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Chechnya killed in total 12 suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), who rendered armed resistance.

A source from law enforcement bodies reports: "At 1:20 p.m. on July 11, five kilometres off the village of Bamut, Achkhoy-Martan District of Chechnya, a MIA unit found an IAF in a dense forest, which rendered armed resistance. In the course of a skirmish, four militants were killed.

At night on July 12, in Zavodskoy District of Grozny employees of the MIA and local OVD (Interior Department) tried to stop, in the course of their operative-search actions, a Zhiguli car. Its passengers opened fire. Militiamen had to do the same and killed three IAF members.

In the morning on July 12, in Urus-Martan District of the republic, some 1.5 km to the south of the Goy-Chu-Alkhazurovo Highway, two suspected IAF members rendered armed resistance at an attempt of detention. They were killed by response fire, as reported by the "Interfax".

On that very day, at five in the morning, in the Shali District of Chechnya, militiamen tried to stop a VAZ-2109 passenger car, out of which automatic fire was opened on them. By the response fire, three potential IAF members were liquidated.
