Woman from Chechnya wins her claim against Russia at ECtHR

Russia has lost a case at the European Court on Human Rights (ECtHR) on the claim of Zina Pukhigova, a resident of Chechnya, and should pay 39,757 euros for disappearance and death of her husband Salman Abdulazizov in February 2001. This is announced in a communication of the ECtHR.

Ms Pukhigova had asserted that in February 2001 unknown armed persons in camouflage searched their house located in Goity village of the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, and then took away her husband, born in 1950, who was Category I invalid.

The European Court has ruled that Mr Abdulazizov should be considered murdered by Russian militaries. Russia was also found guilty of violating several articles of the European Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, as the "Lenta.ru" writes.

According to the ruling of the Court, Russia should pay 35,000 euros to the victim as compensation of moral damage and 4757 euros for covering legal expenses, the "Gazeta.Ru" writes.
